Back 2 Tha Hotel

surgery-031

After spending almost 7 hours in recovery, Hannah was finally roomed. We were all getting frustrated because we were originally told she would only be in recovery for 1-3 hours. Apparently there weren’t any open rooms in pediatrics. So, at 1 o’clock in the morning another ten year old girl got a roommate. After the move, We were all spent so I (dad) decided to stay the night with her, after I had some soup. Mom, Aunt Leah and Uncle Jordon sat while I ate then went to the hotel room. I slept tried to sleep next to Hannah’s bed (in one of those pull out chairs) but there was not enough room and every time a nurse came in (like every twenty minutes) the door hit my “bed”. Mom came back in the morning and relieved me of duty so I could take a shower. While I was walking out of the hotel with Leah and Jordon… Carrie called, “if Hannah keeps the sandwich that she just ate down, she can go home”. We went to her room, Nana and Papa were waiting outside the room. Hannah and mom were sleeping. The Doctor came in, gave us some instructions and sent us on our way. We decided to stay in the hotel one more night, just in case we need to go back to the hospital we would be close. After we get home, there will be an in home nurse that will come over for the first few days to clean the dressings, empty the drains (YUCK!) and whatever else.

Right now Hannah is talking to her friend “hannahsbffseriously” on the phone. We are so blessed that Hannah has her as a friend, she is the sweetest girl. I’m sure she will want to come over and watch Twilight or something when Hannah gets home. Well, that’s all for now. Be sure to check out the gallery for some pictures from yesterday.

Thank You,

Good News!!

Surgery went very well today. It took a little longer than expected but that’s alright. The scans all came back clean and no lymph nodes were affected (pending final report). The original diagnosis of “Invasive ductal” was changed to “Invasive Secretory”. Which is really good news as secretory is easier to treat. Hannah is still in surgery having a “port” installed to be used to administer chemo, draw blood, etc… Hannah should be excited about that as she HATES needle pokes. I will post later as to how Hannah is doing and feeling.
Thank you all very much!!!!

Change Of Plans!

So, Carrie got a call today… It was the hospital and they rescheduled Hannahs surgery. FOR TOMMORROW! They wouldn’t tell us why it was rescheduled. So we were a little concerned about why. When we went today for the scans we spoke with the doctors assistant. She told us that the surgeon didn’t want Carrie and Hannah to be in the hospoital on mothers day (how sweet!). Needless to say we were relieved about that. As for the scans, Hannah is now glowing from the radioactive dye that was injected into her. All in all today went well, from what we understand the sentinel node biopsy is still going to happen in the morning before surgery (surgery is at about 2:00pm). On the bright side, we get to go home a day earlier. The baby is at the sitters and we really miss him (thanks Ellie!). Tomorrow will be a very busy day, please pray for hannah.
Thanks,
J & C
