Great News!

Hannah went in a few days ago to have the drain removed and the pathology report was in earlier than expected….. All 11 nodes removed were clean!!! WHAT A RELIEF! So now, we can all get back to a normal life. It will be a while for a full recovery and for Hannah to get back on the softball field. We just wanted to let everyone know the good news as we are so relieved to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

All Is Well

Hannahs surgery went without a hitch last friday. She spent the night in the hospital and went home on Saturday. The surgeon just had to put in a darned drain, and she was (and is) not very happy about that. Hopefully they will be removed tomorrow (wed) as there is not much fluid collecting in it. We just know Hannah will be pretty upset if, by chance they decide to leave it in, but we will see tomorrow.

This go around has been the most painful surgery by far and it kills us that we cannot do much about it. Hopefully, after the drain is removed and she is a bit more active the pain will subside. She cannot wait to get back to school and the softball field. We cannot wait either to get back to a normal life. Anyways… Just wanted to let everyone know t hat she is doing fine and has a very positive outlook.

Surgery Day, Again

Tomorrow, Hannah will be going in for yet another surgery. For those of you that do not know, Hannah is having more lymph nodes removed. During her mastectomy four nodes were removed and biopsied (spelling?), they all came back clean at the time so there was no need to remove more. After the specimens were sent to pathology, it was determined that the sentinel (first) lymph node was involved. Had it been discovered during surgery, Hannah would not going in again as they would have been removed at that time. But, I guess it is what it is and she will start the road to recovery… again. We ask that you all say a prayer for her tomorrow and hopefully (fingers crossed) it will be the last surgery for quite a while.
